A couple of weeks ago I was honoured to be chosen as a winner of the Global Design Project Colour Challenge #GDP297 and as a result of this, I have been invited to be a Guest Designer for the next one!
This week’s challenge GDP#301 uses Night of Navy, Coastal Cabana and Polished Pink. How cute is this combo!
I was excited to take myself out of my comfort zone yet again, Polished Pink is a bright one for me, I’m such a Subtles girl at heart.
So this is what I came up with, I actually made a few cards with this colour combo but decided to go with this one.
I chose to use the Hand Penned Petals stamps as the images are so pretty and very usable for so many different occasions.
I began with a layer of Coastal Cabana and I added “splats” to this layer using my Night of Navy Stampin’ Write marker, to add interest. Next I adhered some of the Polished Pink DSP from the Colour Collection pack and popped over the top of this some vellum, to detract from the brightness slightly as I wanted the flowers to pop, but still wanted some colour there. Vellum is great for this! I also added a skinny strip of Night of Navy Cardstock to pull the colours together.
I inked up the large flower image from the Hand Penned Petals in Memento Black then stamped the flowers with Night of Navy and Polished Pink ink. Rather than using the whole image, I fussy cut out the individual flowers so that I could place them around a Tailor Made Tag die cut. I added Dimensionals to the flowers to make them really pop out.
I used the Tidings of Christmas die set for the die cut leaves and the small dotty centres of the flowers. This month I’m focussing on the Tidings & Trimmings bundle to show how you can use it for your non-Christmas projects so wanted to pull it in on this one too.
My greeting was from the Hand Penned Petals set and as you can see, I cut into it to split the “feel better friend” sentiment, I do this often! I finished by added a knot to the tag with some White Bakers Twine.
Here’s the Hand Penned Petals stamp set, it is honestly a big favourite of mine, I’ve used it so so many times and it’s definitely a go to set as it can be used for so many different occasions.
I love that you can colour with different types of media on these images, Stampin’ Blends, Watercolouring, Pastels OR you can easily colour them in with the “in fill” stamps which is part of the 2-Step stamping system, genius.
