I am always drawn by floral stamp sets and this one is no exception. The lined images are crying out for colour, and for me, my go to colouring tools are our Stampin’ Blends pens. I love how easy they are to use and that we have such a variety of colours to create with.
I recently held an Event at the Studio where I invited people from the local community to attend to create a card, I wanted it to be quite simple, suitable for beginners and I didn’t want to use too many products to create overwhelm. Trying to find this balance when you’ve been creating cards for over 15 years is tricky, especially for someone like me who loves to add layer on layer ha ha.
Here’s what we created, it’s as stripped back as I could bare to make it and although at first it may look complex with layers, when you break it down step by step it’s really quite straight forward and every beginner crafter who attended did an amazing job of re-creating it!
I couldn’t resist pulling out the NEW Memorable Blooms set, our Blends Pens are just a delight to colour with and create such a beautiful end result, in a simple way.
We used a Photopolymer stamp, a Cling stamp, a punch and also we did some simple die cutting. A die cutting machine is definitely not an essential item when you begin crafting. We can improvise by cutting with scissors and using punches to create labels and frames. Adding a die cutting machine to your crafting equipment just accelerates the possibilities and it’s something we progress to in time.
Here’s a look at all of the elements in this stamps set…
and the complimentary die set…..
As you can see, there are three dies that cut out the flowers and leaves images in the stamp set, then there are an extra three dies that are stand alone. Love them all!
My card uses just one image from this set, then a couple of the dies.
We also used the “Timber” embossing folder, a great all rounder that works with so many occasions.
The other stamps I’ve used are the “Hugs for Love” along with the “To the Point” punch, I love that we also have another co-ordinating stamp set that works with this punch.
At first glance you may look and think “oh I don’t make Valentine cards”, but this set is way more than that. Yes, there’s a Valentines sentiment in there, and lots of hugs and kisses, maybe not for everyone, but I always look deep into what a stamp set can bring me, and sometimes there are things in it that I may never use, but for me it’s about the parts of it I know I will use and the reason why I choose to get it.
I think this set will be useful for my Scrapbooking, the heart images will make great use of plain backgrounds on my layouts and the frames will be layered with elements, words, dates etc.
I stamped a Crumb Cake frame using the Hugs for Love set then layered it behind my flower/leaf duo. It broke up my white space and added another subtle layer to my card.
Let’s not forget the gorgeous patterned paper, quite bright for me, are you impressed! It has some Melon Mambo in there, but the background of this sheet is very “Pretty in Pink” which is where my colour combination came from.
This is a FREE pack that’s offered as a product gift with purchase during our Sale-a-Bration promotion
I love how my card turned out and it actually evolved from a card I had made the previous week for a Private Class I held at the Studio, I simply switched out my stamp set….. and as I type I’m finding I don’t have a photograph of that one on my phone, so I will share it another time!
I’ve also used this card layout for my Facebook Live stamping session this week so be sure to head to my YouTube Channel to watch the replay of that one.
Thank you for stopping by….
