At the end of October I received an invitation to be the November Guest Designer at @Stampinthroughthecatalogue and of course, I did not hesitate in accepting their offer!
As we were taking a mid month trip to Europe, I decided to get to work straight away and having recently received the “Classic Wedding” bundle, it was sitting right on my desk in front of me, so I thought it would be great to use it being that it had just released on the Online Exclusives section of my Online Shop.
I decided to add a little spin to my card, and create something suitable for the festive season approaching us. Here’s how it went!
I began by using a blending brush with pool party ink to add some colour around the top part of my Basic White layer, then stamped some small snowflakes and snow from the Snowy Wonder set.
Initially I wanted to find a tree to go on top of the car but didn’t have anything that worked in my stamp collection so I pulled out the greenery from the Sophisticated Sled dies to give my car a festive feel. I added Real Red flowers from the Classic Wedding dies to act as Poinsettia flowers (our Christmas flower here in the UK).
The Classic Wedding set is a 2 Step Stamping set, meaning you can use 2 images to create one final look, but not compulsory. You could just use the outline image and colour with your choice of pens, watercolour products or sponge/blend, but I love that you can easily infill the colour with the second image, brilliant and speedy. I chose Crumb Cake for my infill as it’s just such a lovely neutral colour that works with everything.
The Ice Skates are from the same die set (Sophisticated Sled) which worked well attached to the back of the car, a little out of proportion but I felt that they worked. I cut the blades of the skates in gold foil to make them feel more festive.
The Classic Wedding dies have that gorgeous banner die which will be so useful for so many of my projects, along with the other small dies that cut those flowers I’ve used plus the sweetest teeny tiny hearts. My sentiment is also from the Classic Wedding stamps, not particularly festive as it’s quite occasional but again I felt it fitted with my theme. I did a bit of umming and ahhhing over the placement of my sentiment, feeling that it needed more than just “Cheers” but settled eventually! Do you faff around with placement, I’m sure I’m not alone!
That gorgeous Candy Cane patterned paper is from the Take a Bow pack, such an array of delicious prints in festive colours, one of my favourite packs right now!
I really love how it turned out and enjoying my teaming of festive colours Pool Party, Mossy Meadow and Real Red with a little Gold thrown in. What are your favourite festive colours?
