I’ve had the Botanical Layers stamps in my pile of “uninked new catalogue sets” for a little while, and it’s not that I’ve not wanted to use it, simply I’ve been enjoying the other new products so much that I’d not got around to it!!
I’d seen very little inspiration using it but set to pulling out some sheets of cardstock in colours that I thought might compliment it.
Here’s what I came up with:
- Mossy Meadow
- Soft Seafoam
- Fresh Freesia
- So Saffron
I had sketched a couple of designs before I sat to create, then with the inks laid out in front of me I began. I decided that I need some “flower” images to compliment the foliage in the Botanical Layers so pulled out my Sending Smiles set, one that I’ve been struggling to put down of late!
The cards came together pretty quickly, I adore this colour combination and felt inspired to carry on creating after my two cards were complete. Look out for a class coming very soon!
This card uses one of the foliage images, stamped in Mossy Meadow to create a base for my flowers to sit in, then I filled some of the white space in between with the tiny flower burst images from the set. The flowers of course are from the Sending Smiles set, these smaller flowers work very well with the foliage.
I used one of the NEW Elegant Eucalyptus embossing folders to create a subtle border at the bottom of my card. Such a pretty duo, I will be using these LOTS!!
My greeting is from the Sending Smiles set, love all of the options included with this one, of course you can create more by chopping them around a little and mixing them up. I layered over one of the banners from the “Beautiful Shapes” die set. Have I told you how much I love this die set, a great all round collection of Circles, Square and Banners that you will pull out regularly for your projects.
For this card I stamped three of the foliage images around the edge of rectangle piece of Basic White cardstock, using Mossy Meadow and Soft Sea Foam ink, infilling with the little flower burst image in between.
I embossed the white layer with the Elegant Eucalyptus folder, popping it through my machine twice, you can see this process via the YouTube replay to understand why I did this.
A pretty simple card really, some background stamping, a few flowers and a banner with a greeting, nothing to complicated.
I love how fresh these colours are together and as I mentioned earlier, there will definitely be a class following these creations as I was so inspired to continue creating with the stamps and inks I had chosen.
