Sophisticated Sled Cards for Christmas

Following on from the everyday cards I’ve made using the Sophisticated Sled stamps and dies, I most definitely was excited to create some Christmas projects with them too!

I found myself drawn to the dies as they offer so much texture and I love the Sled die with the woodgrain detailing.

Here’s what I came up with:

I used Garden Green ink and cardstock as it complimented the patterned papers I was using. This set of papers is from the NEW Mini Catalogue, the Nests of Winter, it is beautiful. It has designs with gorgeous hand drawn birds on one side along with lovely reverse sides of the paper that offer patterns and background options too.

Alongside this in the Nests of Winter Suite, I’ve used the Birch Wood embossing folder, this 6″ x 8 1/2″ folder is just fabulous and it’s pretty large too! Love it! You can see the lovely texture it creates below….

I’ve stamped the wreath and coloured it in with my Stampin’ Blends pens then used the dies to cut it out. I added the foliage bough behind then die cut some Ice Skates, “built them up” as there are three die cut pieces for each skate, then added them next to my wreath. These skates are just the cutest and a great design of how the laces are added to the boot.

My card base is crumb cake and I teamed it with Cherry Cobbler which is generally my fave Christmas Red when crafting, although I’ve been using plenty of Real Red at present, mainly because it’s teaming with papers I am using, but to be honest, some of our colours do blend well if you don’t have the exact one that’s featured within a paper pack.

My tag is from the Greetings of the Season set, one that I continually use and that is always close to hand. My trusty Linen Thread, also never far from a project is great for adding to the top of these labels die cut pieces.

I have a couple of Classes created for September and October and will share more on those very soon, but for now I hope you enjoyed this creation and are feeling inspired to begin crafting for Christmas!
