This week I was stamping live over on my business Facebook page using a new set from the 2024 Annual Catalogue called “Choose Happiness”. You will find it near the beginning in the “Quick & Easy Options” section on Page 24.
I love the simplicity of this set, sweet line drawn images waiting for colour to be added along with a huge selection of words to accompany them. With plans to resume a Scrapbooking Class in the very near future, I saw potential to use this set for layouts too.
Sweet and simple card making is definitely not my forte ha ha, you know how I love to add layers, but I set to create something along those lines, then intended on creating a stepped up version along side it.
I chose Peach Pie, Pretty in Pink and Summer Splash for my colour combo, all three are NEW In Colours. I often express my love of our Stampin’ Blends pens, they are a delight to create with and of course, the colours match with our cardstock and patterned papers.
I focussed on just two of the images from the Choose Happy stamp set, the Flower and sweet Bird, stamping them in Black Memento Ink so that it wouldn’t bleed with the Alcohol Blends. For my first card I used a Blending Brush to add some Pretty in Pink to my base card to create a soft background, then added ink splats using a Waterpainter, see this in action via the video replay.
I stamped my images in Memento black ink, then let them sit for a while to allow them to absorb into the basic white cardstock before hand I coloured them with my Stampin’ blends. Using my Unbounded Love dies, I cut a scallop oval and layered it onto my card base above a strip of Peach Pie cardstock. Next I added my hand cut, coloured images along with some die cut foliage, finishing with a greeting!
My second card was a stepped-up version of the previous, so basically I added more layers and enhanced it a little, as you can see below.
I used the NEW Eyelet 3D Embossing Folder and added a panel to the base of my card then created notches on my Peach Pie layer with some of our gorgeous Linen Thread for some texture. The rest of the card was practically the same apart from the label added to the “happy” sentiment and I also popped on some Gems to my flowers.
I love how they both turned out, lots of white space which makes me super happy, but of course, if you plan to recreate you can add way much more colour for your card base and layers. I would love to see your version of this!
